GMS Leadership Program
By focusing on personal growth and hands-on leadership opportunities, Leadership 8 prepares students to take on greater responsibilities in Leadership 9. Together, these courses create a continuous program that fosters engaged, capable, and compassionate leaders, underscoring the need for a dedicated leadership position to guide and grow this important pathway at GMS.
Leadership 8 is the training ground for student leaders at GMS. Open to all students, this course is the a pre-requisite for Leadership 9. In Leadership 8, students develop the character, confidence, and practical skills needed to serve as role models in our school community. Through projects and activities, students strengthen their public speaking, graphic design, and teamwork skills, while also mentoring our youngest Jags as buddies and positive examples.
Leadership 9
Leadership 9 is a unique program at GMS that empowers Grade 9 students to shape and strengthen school community through purposeful action. Students take the lead in organizing spirit days, pep rallies, and school-wide initiatives that bring people together and celebrate school culture. Beyond building school spirit, Leadership 9 also focuses on giving back, both within GMS and in the wider community. Students run fundraising efforts such as the school store, candy grams, and other creative events, while also volunteering their time with local organizations, supporting food drives, and connecting with elders. At its core, Leadership 9 is about creating a school community where every individual is valued and friendships are built through teamwork, service, and action.
