Welcome to Ecole Glenrosa Middle School!
Hello GMS Families,
We are excited to welcome you to our school community! Ecole Glenrosa Middle School (GMS) first opened its doors in 1994 and today is home to about 700 students in Grades 6–9. We are proud to be a Dual Track French Immersion school that supports both English and French Immersion programs.
At GMS, we work hard to balance strong academics with the developmental needs of young adolescents. Our teaching is guided by the Attributes of the SD23 Learner and the Core Competencies, helping students reflect on their learning, recognize their strengths, and set goals for growth. We design engaging and meaningful learning experiences—many of which are school-wide and collaborative—so that students see how their learning connects to real life.
Over the years, our school has continued to grow and offer unique opportunities for students. We have:
- A thriving Hockey Academy for Grades 6–9, supported by a newly renovated Strength and Conditioning room (2024–25).
 - A Grade 9 Outdoor Education Academy, launched in 2024, that takes learning beyond the classroom.
 - A longstanding cultural exchange with our sister school in Kasugai, Japan. Each year we host visiting students, and in return, our students have the chance to travel to Japan to build cultural connections.

In the past two years, we have placed special focus on school culture—creating a safe, welcoming environment where everyone belongs. We have built a school-wide leadership program and created a Culture Corner to highlight important events, holidays, and causes. This work, led by students, reflects our shared belief in kindness, inclusivity, and belonging.
At GMS, our guiding motto is: "Be Kind. Be Curious. Be Brave. Belong." We are excited to continue this journey with new initiatives such as Student Matters and The Common Ground—student-led groups that give space for connection, support, and voice.
We are also committed to strong academics. In 2024–25, we introduced a literacy assessment for Grades 6–8 to better understand student strengths in reading and writing. This work supports our teachers in creating lessons that meet the needs of all learners, while building confidence and foundational skills across the curriculum.
We are so glad your family is part of our community. Together, we will continue to make GMS a place where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to grow.
Warmly,
The GMS Staff
